2010-Present
- 2009 - Facebook allows games on their website, beginning the era of social games, such as FarmVille.
- 2010 - Minecraft is released. The game would quickly become highly popular, with later releases are nearly all consoles. As of February 2017, the game had approximately 55 million players.
- 2011 - The Nintendo 3DS is released.
- 2012 - The Nintendo Wii U is released. The console was Nintendo's worst of all time, turning a loss for the company.
- 2013 - Microsoft's Xbox One is released.
- 2013 - Sony's PlayStation 4 is released.
- 2014 - Online Free-to-Play (F2P) games gain popularity. These games turn profits by processing micro transactions, small transactions for various aesthetics or game play features, rather than the game itself.
- 2017 - The Nintendo Switch is released.
